I got to play this game for the first time this year on my twitch channel (with Cee, our Vyse, helping me through discord) and wow how charming and wholesome it was! I didn't grow up with a GameCube, so I'm so glad that streaming has been able to open my opportunities to play games I never got a chance to as a kid.

I first discovered Fellowship in ~ 2022 right before I went abroad and their music goes HARD when you just want a hug. In the year of our Lord 2024 I finally saw them live now that they’re big enough to leave the UK and it was AWESOME. Their new album is fantastic and hearing the songs I’ve grown to love live was just. Dang.

I unfortunately ran out of time to do a full color artwork but I really wanted something to get signed and this was the result. Not only do they make good music, they’re also really nice people that hung out with us and chatted to fans for ages. I’ve rarely felt so relaxed around artists because they’re just very sweet, kind people who live what their music says. Can’t wait to see them again in April.

I meant to use JSR Beat for this; hence the final panel. But then I found out it's in JSRF that enemies melt into the ground after being tagged, so I had to use JSRF Beat.

In the original version, Vyse would happily offer a Pyri Box for Beat to use, but the latter just goes "Thanks, but I think I'm just gonna tag it."

Also, I didn't look up any references on Beat until I was coloring, and yeah, he looks bad with the headphone band being so close to his head. I'll redeem myself with the next art I put out!

Album of the Week: Fellowship - The Skies above Eternity

Thoughts: I've already talked about their first album, which is one of my absolute favorites. In fact, I am on the bus listening to this album as I type this. If you need a pick-me-up this is the band for you. The second album is just as positive as the first, and Matthew's voice is wonderful once again. I love his warm tones and the emotion he brings into the songs, on the album and on stage.

Have you ever been so excited for something you psych yourself out of doing the thing? That was this album, because my expectations were so high I was scared to listen to it. Of course none of the songs have the iconic status as Glint, which I've sung 5272637 times by now but that's not how that works.

This album continues their musical style, with a upbeat and warm sound, the songs telling a story of overcoming adversity and gaining confidence. One of my favorite tools they use are the choral segments and bridges with limited instrumentation for Matthew's voice to really shine before the finale.

Victim is melodically fun but also heavily relatable (and great for OC playlists), which is mirrored by World End Slowly which is way more cheerful. King of Nothing feels a bit like a Battle Beast song in how energetic it is. Eternity starts out with a vaguely Asian-inspired melody, which is really fun. Hold up your Hearts again is a great intro song because it's closest to the first album, as if it's taking you by the hand and leading you from one album to the other.

I'm excited to read the novel for the album, because the songs will make a lot more sense then but even now it's just plain fun to listen to and the topics are somewhat universally applicable. The novel wasn't finished until release for various reasons but they're hoping for February/March - I'm excited to read it, because the first one was really fun to read, with charming characters and interesting world building.

I want an AU where Ramirez becomes a blue rogue after an extensive amount of education/deprogramming/therapy and he learns the world isn't as awful as he was told. We get to see Ramirez as the kind person Fina described and atone for his actions idk I also think it'd be funny and wholesome to see him discover what a dog is.

a beginning (TOG/WoT, Andy & Nile, gen) - If I recall correctly this was in response to a 'cross your newest and oldest fandom' challenge, and well before WoT crashed back into my life with the TV show in late 2021! I've got a whole lot more worldbuilding for this tucked away in the back of my head somewhere...

The Waiting Game (RoL, Peter/Beverley, Peter & Thomas) - it's tagged 'ask box fic' and I think I would have written it as part of a whole lot of post-Hanging Tree prompts, but the years have eroded my memory of who prompted me and what exactly they prompted me.

they choose to take you in (Court of Fives, Bettany & OC) - a Yuletide fic for a very small book fandom which features the clash of a matriarchal and a patriarchal culture; I was obsessed with the idea of a longed-for male heir (still in utero at the end of the series) being...whoops, not that.

The Sight of Other Skies (Eternal Skies trilogy, Samarkar & Tsareg Edene) - another Yuletide fic for a book fandom, ft. female friendship, but mostly an excuse to roll around in the series worldbuilding.

The Retirement of Gabriel Argent (Daniel Blackland series, Gabriel/Max) - I am extremely proud that I wrote the first fic on AO3 for this very tiny fandom. It was the unusual-for-me case of finishing a book trilogy and being absolutely unable to move on without getting this post-canon idea out of my head.
